Special Monday

Avery continues to show stamina and progress. She is down to 60 on her Ecmo unit down from 95, which is really exciting. The tech said they can only drop to 50 because that is the idle speed. Dr. Seib said we will try to have her on her own for a bit in a couple of days to see what she can handle. The REALLY big news is that her catheter came out today and rather than risk a scratch from putting it back in, she is free peeing! So Carissa and I were allowed to change one diaper each...Wooooo Hooooo! She was very peaceful all day and we are resting up for the decisions that are to be made over the next couple of days. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

  1. Praying that is but the beginning of many, many diapers that you all get to change. Perhaps even a blowout in the carseat one day, just for good measure. :)

Keep up the good work, Avery.

Say hi to KK for us!

  3. Sounds like she is a real pistol (just like her mom :) Who would have thought that a pee-pee diaper would be the greatest thing in the world! I'm so happy she is continuing to stay strong and make progress. We are all pulling for her and wishing the best for you, Shane, and Kaitlyn. Let me know if you need anything at all.

    I love you, girl!!

  4. Continued prayers here for Avery and your family. Changing a diaper is huge when your parenting skills are on hold as your sweetie heals from this. She is a strong baby girl and I pray it just gets better each and every day.

    Love and Hugs, Laurie

In Church on Sunday as we sang the hymn, "Dearest Children, God Is Near You"......watching o'er you day and night", a few tears trickled down my cheeks, and in my heart I presented that hymn to the Lord as a prayer for your sweet family. May all of you, especially precious baby girl Avery, continue to receive His special blessings. Goldie McGarrah

It is a great thing to know you can change her diapers now. I will never forget the first time we were able to change our sons, it was about a month or so after he was born. We will never complain about having to change a diaper!!! I enjoy reading your blog and seeing the progress that your little princess is making =)
