Trip Out of Town

Even though it was only for a day, it was really really nice to be in different surroundings! On Sunday our family headed to Tulsa, OK to visit some of my family members and just get our minds off everything that has been going on. It was great to see my family as well as meet our newest Stewart addition...Michael McAlister Stewart! He is such and doll! After visiting with family, we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium. Kaitlyn loved it (and Shane did too). For a moment, it seemed like life was just normal. No talk of doctor appointments or thoughts of what is to come. Just plain fun and lots of smiles.

Tomorrow, it is more doctor appointments and thoughts of what is to come. We have an ultrasound at 10:30am and then an appointment with my OB, Dr. Duke. I will be 32 weeks on Friday and it is pretty hard to believe how quickly we have moved through this pregnancy. Hopefully all is well. Rather than feeling excited about getting to see Avery, I dread each appointment in fear that I am going to hear more bad news.

In other news, I had a comical conversation with Kaitlyn this morning. Let me preface by saying that Kaitlyn has wavy hair that likes to collect tangles. Most mornings she cries while I try to brush. It is not fun! Well, this morning I said enough. We are going to get your hair cut today. Less tangles and besides, it's almost summer. So I say to her, "I think it would be a good idea if we get your hair trimmed today." She looks at me like I just stole her every breath of happiness and replies, "You are ruining my life!" She crossed her arms and ran out of our bedroom in tears. Shane and I looked at each other and tried really hard not to laugh! I have a 13-year-old in a 5-year-old body! Anyways, she got her hair cut and loves it. I will post some pictures in the next couple days.

  1. like you couldn't have predicted that defining moment of your 5 going on 25 year old daughter's life...and so it begins - give my Katie Macaroni a big smooch and hug from Auntie Judi (I did laugh out loud since she couldn't hear me!). I am glad you had some fun family time. I will be thinking of you and holding you near my heart as always. Breathe sweet girl.

    Love, Me

  2. Praying all goes as well as it can tomorrow.

As for your big girl, she is too funny. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

  3. Hi Carissa. My name is Alicia Brown and we live on Topaz Street. We have always walked by your house and said hi (We knew the Wests from high school). I am ashamed that I never really stopped to talk and meet you guys. I just wanted you to know that we are praying for you, Avery and your entire family. There is always hope in Jesus, and I am so glad you have that hope. Please let us know if there is anything we can ever do for you. The next time we are out, I will be sure to stop by!)
