As tubes are removed and incisions heal, she will gain strength to move forward in her recovery. She is a miracle baby, and has a few more she is saving for the future. (Never can have too many miracles lying around) She needs your loving touch and familiar voices to carry her through. Each day may sometimes not seem much different than the day before, but its all those quiet and "uneventful" days that get a kid home safe and sound. At this point in the journey, it can seem like an endless battle, but it does get better. My daughter was at ACH in CVICU for 21 weeks. She had 4 heart surgeries before she was 2 1/2 months old. Today she is 20 months old. She still takes 9 meds every day, and still has a feeding schedule of a newborn eating through a button, but other than that, shes closer to "normal" everyday. As normal as any heart kid can ever be. Hang in there. Avery is one tough cookie. But think of the stories she will tell one day. Take care.

From one heart family to another,
Mandi Harris
Mallory's carepage
www.carepages.com mhpageAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005232457040550615.post-7442519893535467012009-06-05T14:21:34.566-05:002009-06-05T14:21:34.566-05:00Keeping Little Miss Avery Mae in our prayers all t...Keeping Little Miss Avery Mae in our prayers all the time. That is how battles are won: one step at a time, one day at a time. He is holding her hand as they fight this battle together. There is a purpose for her going through this. She, and all of you, will be made stronger because of it, so just maintain faith that all will be well in God's timing. He loves all of you and is well aware of you and your needs. My thoughts and prayers to you all each day.
